Transition Radiation in QCD matter
In ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions a finite size QCD medium is created. In this paper we compute radiative energy loss to zeroth order in opacity by taking into account finite size effects. Transition radiation occurs on the boundary between the finite size medium and the vacuum, and we show that it lowers the difference between medium and vacuum zeroth order radiative energy loss relati...
متن کاملDirect Urca neutrino radiation from superfluid baryonic matter
Dense matter in compact stars cools efficiently by neutrino emission via the direct Urca processes n → p + e + ν̄e and p + e → n + νe. Below the pairing phase transition temperature Tc these processes are suppressed at asymptotically low temperatures exponentially. We compute the emissivity of the Urca process at one loop for temperatures T ≤ Tc, in the case where the baryons are paired in the S...
متن کاملTransition Radiation of the Neutrino Toroid Dipole Moment
We discuss the transition radiation of a neutrino induced by its toroid dipole moment (τ) when crossing the interface between two different media with different refraction indices. A neutrino of 1 MeV energy emits approximately 10−40 keV at τ = e √ 2GF /π 2. This effect depends very slightly on the neutrino mass and has a finite value in the massless limit.
متن کاملPhase transition in a radiation-matter interaction with recoil and collisions.
The standard model introduced to describe the collective atomic recoil of an ensemble of atoms interacting with a strong electromagnetic field has been here extended by the inclusion of collisions with a buffer gas. As a result, we find that in the thermodynamic limit the coherent emission of radiation exhibits a continuous phase transition upon increasing the pump intensity. The output laser f...
متن کاملEarly photon-shock interaction in stellar wind: sub-GeV photon flash and high energy neutrino emission from long GRBs
For gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) born in a stellar wind, as the reverse shock crosses the ejecta, usually the shocked regions are still precipitated by the prompt MeV γ−ray emission. Because of the tight overlapping of the MeV photon flow with the shocked regions, the optical depth for the GeV photons produced in the shocks is very large. These high energy photons are absorbed by the MeV photon flow...
